At Somerset Beds, we admire the legacy of Burgess Beds. Founded in 1927 by Harry Burgess and incorporated in 1955, Burgess has been a family-run business for over 80 years, renowned for their handcrafted, quality beds for homes, hotels, and shipping lines.
Originally based near Hen Market in Shudehill, Burgess moved from Pollard Street, Manchester, to the Rossendale Valley in Helmshore, where they continue their tradition today.
Notably, the 1959 Manchester Miller liner featured Burgess pocketed sprung mattresses, exemplifying their quality. Guided by Harry Burgess’s ethos to honor his name, Burgess Beds has maintained a proud reputation for over 90 years. Their handmade products, crafted in Lancashire, reflect enduring excellence and tradition.
